Brussels Design and Comics

A large part of the Eurovelo 5-route inside Brussels passes through the Canal. A nice revaluated part of this zone is the Quai du Hainaut with the ancient Bellevue Brewery. The Brewery made the famous Brussels beer Gueuze. It was renewed and a new destination was given: the Meininger City Center Hotel and the Mima Museum.
The Meiniger City Center Hotel
The Meiniger City Center Hotel (Quai du Hainaut 33) is located nearby
the city center, being the ideal spot to discover the city!
The MIMA - the Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art
Next to the hotel is the MIMA, the Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art: a new contemporary art museum – the only one of its kind in Europe – that takes the public through a history of ‘Culture 2.0’.
In the city center, the Comics Art Museum has been honouring the creators and heroes of the 9th Art for more than 25 years.
The regularly renewed permanent exhibitions and a diversified programme of temporary exhibitions enable visitors to discover the countless aspects of comics art. Tintin and the Smurfs lead the way towards further adventures, an encounter with a world where creativity has no limits.
Comics on walls
Brussels loves comic strips even more: the heroes take possession of the walls and gables. Hunting them is a nice way to discover the city by bike or walking.
Of course the typical Brussels monuments are nice to be visited during a weekend in Brussels: Grand Place (Unesco Heritage), the Town Hall, the Palais-Royal,…
The Meininger City Center Hotel has a bicycle parking and offers bike rental. The hotel offers the map-guide “brussels by bike” including 8 emblematic themed itineraries that allow you to experience theatmospheres and diversity of Brussels’ different neighbourhoods. The distances and difficulties of the various itineraries mean there is something for both bicycle lovers and complete novices. These itineraries are interchangeable and can be used as you go along.
Each one looks at a strong theme that is an integral part of Brussels’ DNA: Brussels highlights; Brussels, Capital of Europe; Brussels, a green city; Brussels Art Nouveau and Art Deco; Brussels in comic strips; Foodie Brussels; Industrial Brussels and Brussels Street Art.
