Wallonia has many cycle routes called RAVeL, which are old railway lines converted into Green Ways for cyclists and pedestrians. Those roads are accessible to all of us; almost flat all the time, without cars and easy to follow! The rewarded section is one of those and part of the well-known EuroVelo 3. Also called “the Pilgrims Route”, the EuroVelo 3 goes from Norway to Compostela in Spain. This 5 300 km long mythic route is crossing 7 countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France and Spain) and goes through Wallonia.
The Belgian part of EuroVelo, RAVeL line 38, makes you discover the groves of the Land of Herve (“Pays de Herve”) which is famous for its green landscapes and panoramic views. This new RAVeL’s section was inaugurated last July 2021 and is a big step for Wallonia, after 5 years of work. The itinerary starts at the Land of Herve Tourist Office, where you can rent a bike. The itinerary will make you discover Thimister and Clermont-sur-Berwinne,one of the most beautiful towns in Wallonia. Discover here the entire itinerary.
You know the Belgian coast but have you ever ridden it entirely by bike? It is possible to do this thanks to the EuroVelo 4- Central Europe Route and the EuroVelo 12-North Sea cycle route, which runs along the coast. Discover the stunning Belle Époque architecture, the Beaufort sculpture park of contemporary art and Belgium’s rich maritime heritage on the 90 km of road in Belgium
